  • Swedish traffic cops are dicks - I got fined for undertaking people going below the speed limit on the highway (going the speed limit myself). :D Luckily, I had a bit soft in the head friend with me so we (ALLEDGEDLY) proceeded to blast through Sweden (him leading in his car) to Denmark at 200+ after that so I considered it like a "unlimited speed pass" payment. 1000 Kronor well spent.

  • The way he's acting makes me think that he has roots somewhere other than Sweden. Shame that the respect for the police deteriorates due to "cultural influences". I just don't get why it'd be so hard to just do what you're told - you're an adult and not a teenager.

    mmmakeeemmmakeeeVuosi sitten
    • @mmmakeee Honestly can't disagree with anything you wrote here. On the police side of things it varies alot where you're from in Sweden but have had this happen outside of my home town. (hometown is in the middle of Sweden) Stockholm is a place where security and police can be very rough to say the least even on small things. Maybe they had a bad day at work but it still doesn't justify the way they treated me on those occasions but they're also human after all. Either way I wont disagree that violence is up but the climate now a days if i dare to say all over the world is just very tense/rough and has been for a couple years now. No way of justifying the violence but I think is a puzzle piece to the problem. Overall Sweden is very racist, we're very judgemental people when it comes to outsiders. For example I know for a fact my brother isn't racist but when a immigrant is driving a bus and does a weird turn it's usually because hes an immigrant and no other reason. However when it's a white Swedish driver the issue isn't there. This is just a tiny example of how I think alot of Swedes think and the fact it's easy to blame immigrants for things and get angry about small things because they're immigrants because we put them on a higher standard then a regular Swede for some reason. But as you said, your friends speak all kinds of languages and you should know the work ethics of immigrants and how much they're willing to work atleast in my friend circle is crazy. Used to study with a guy back in the day that had 3 different jobs while at the same time studying. This is not everyone but i've seen in my line of work that the work ethics of some Syrian immigrants are fucking nuts, they'll skip breaks etc etc. This is not every immigrant and of course there are those that live on social security but I can respect the drive of some of the people i've met. I have to say this has been a great discussion and an insight for me also.

      SpraySpray11 kuukautta sitten
    • @Spray Didn't know there would be that many differences between the Swedish and Finnish police - none of my native friends have anything bad to say about them except for whining about speeding tickets that they get for a reason. None, nor I, have been asked to show IDs and I don't know why the police would ask people to do that in the first place for no reason. As far as I know Sweden does have quite a history in harassing Finnish-speakers, from punishing the teaching and speaking of Finnish to measuring the skulls of Finnish-speakers in order to prove that they're of an inferior race. This is in the past now, and I don't think people here care what language they're being taught at home - my friends speak all kinds of languages like Greek, Hungarian, Hebrew, Russian, multiple Balkan languages and Arabic but they're also fluent in Finnish so no-one bats an eye, and shouldn't. Some guys I went to school with were also taught cultural things that were very different from what we consider normal and that's worrying - perhaps that the reason why Arabic people might sometimes be put on the spotlight. We are currently in a tragicomic situation where we have lots of people with no education nor fluency in English, Finnish or Swedish which makes it extremely difficult to integrate them. On the other hand, we have lots of demand for AI/ML experts as our education system has lagged badly in teaching them in universities. The problem is that very few want to come here due to various factors and the discussion is on immigrants as a whole. We really need specific professional here who speak English, no-one cares if they speak English or not. But the conversation is always mixing refugees and professionals which makes it unproductive and has left us with the situation where we have the worst of both worlds, which has lead to some unforeseen clashes between cultures and increased violence.

      mmmakeeemmmakeee11 kuukautta sitten
    • @mmmakeee My friend, i'm Swedish and a speck of Finnish. I am not a trouble maker but have had my fair share of confrontations with the police in Sweden and most of it is good but I've had some crazy officers pin me to wall aggressively for example not having my ID on me. I treat police with respect if they confront me with respect but sadly there are assholes in every corner of the world and these confrontations with the police has made me loose most respect for them even though I am a ordinary Swede. I get that not every police is an ass but as they say "You fit a description". Violence is up here in Sweden yes. But this country has never been problem free there was shootings and stabbings way before the immigrant waves kicked in and sure, times have changed but I remember when I was 14-15 in my area we didn't have the option to sell drugs because the older guys didn't trust the younger guys or didnt want them to handle drugs. Now a days a 14 or 15 year old is an asset to these gangs and I know a fair share of good kids when I was growing up that would've jumped on making good money at that age in a second if they got asked. Something I find odd is that people like to hyper focus on the immigrants and not the politicians in my country that put them in the suburbs around the Stockholm, Malmö, Göteborg area expecting them to integrate. Where I live in Sweden they've integrated because they were forced to speak the language and put in mainly Swedish residential areas. Sure there are some that sell drugs and so on but so did alot of other Swedish kids when I was growing up to make a quick buck. Why do they choose to sell drugs? It's a tough question to answer because there is alot of reasons but I think you're smart enough to figure out a few reasons. Also, you do realize police in their home countries are alot tougher then here in Sweden? "They aren't respected in my home country because of their service but because if you fuck up you'll probably have your finger cut off or beaten up until bloody which is the main reason I like the Swedish police better, they do the work not the violence" (Exact words from a Syrian college at work) It's very odd to me how people hyper focus on the immigrants and completely forget about what non-immigrants do. Is it because it's easier to throw the blame on immigrants for everything that is wrong with their country while completely turning a blind eye towards who or what actually caused this? Cultural differences and religious beliefs is an easy strawman that takes 0 intelligence to use that alot of racist and fascist people like to push very hardly and that the Swedish people eat up hook line and sinker because it's alot easier then looking into the previous political decisions and changes in our country. I'm also interested what country you're in because if you're Swedish I would love what you have to say about the decisions our politicians made during the immigration wave and then continue to blame refugees for not integrating. Oh yeah, whats up with immigrants stealing jobs and then on the other hand complaining about some not having jobs? Wouldn't you say that's kind a laughable statement? Well that's how the Swedes resonated at the start of the wave and now. Kinda funny people we Swedes are huh? :) I might add that my mother was extremely proud to be Finnish, even wanted to teach me the language. But my mother teaching me the Finnish language is looked at very differently then for example someone teaching the Arabic language. Why is that?

      SpraySpray11 kuukautta sitten
    • @Spray Don't know were you're from but in the Nordics, trust towards the police is exceptionally high since officers don't exploit their authority unlike in some other countries. The system works well as people don't question the actions of officers and just do what they're told - and because the officers themselves think highly of this mutual respect there are very few issues between "normal people" (not criminals, addicts, drunks) and the police. After 2015, violence towards the police has increased every year and the reason is, whether you want to believe it or not, the increase of immigrants. Currently in Finland, officers are subjected to more violence than what they cause, i.e. the number of cases where cops face violence is higher than the cases where the police use force against civilians. It's quite telling of the way the police uses force here. My comment was very edgy for sure, but the reality is that immigrants seem to have a lot less respect towards the police than the native population in the Nordics; which leads to the question why is that? Everything was working fine before - why can't immigrants adapt to the way people interact with the police in their new country, is that so hard?

      mmmakeeemmmakeee11 kuukautta sitten
    • Love how you throw out the "you're an adult" but at the same time throws out the fattest race bait and points to cultural influences because that's the quickest and easiest thing to point at because of your obvious agenda. Respect for police is something the police have to earn with their actions and attitude during any stop just like any other person in the world. Would you say a drawn gun during an alleged speeding stop is a good way to earn that respect and trust? Police are people just like you and me and should not be treated any different or have a lower entry barrier for my trust and respect just because they wear a uniform and a badge.

    • @AJ Stevens bruh, he was speeding *behind* the cop who then pulled a gun for *speeding* . Also look how the cop behaves, hands behind his back and constantly moves closer. You'd probably give flowers to the cop and be late to a super important meeting

    • @Bad Habits Pulled over for aggressive driving, not speeding. And given Skurken's reaction, I understand why the officer was on edge. Not to mention, he's setting a terrible example for his children.

    • Lets see how you react when you get pulled over for speeding and the officer walks up to you with his gun out. Then add your family also being there.
